iPhone Update and MobileMe! Leaked Release Time!

10 07 2008

An anonymous insider told Keaton Taylor and I today when the iPhone Software Update will be released tomorrow! I’m not just saying that this is going to be released tomorrow, I’m saying they told us an EXACT TIME!

First, here’s a little background about the iPhone 2.0 software as well as the new iPhone. Basically, the biggest feature of the iPhone 2.0 software is MobileMe. MobileMe has been described as “Exchange for the rest of us.” MobileMe is going to allow to sync EVERYTHING to your iPhone, Mac, and Windows computer! By everything, I mean, your mail, address book, as well as even iCal!

Now, imagine the price you’d think for this service…just take a guess. $250 a year? $500 per year? WRONG! You’re going to be paying a mere $99 per year for all of this PLUS 20 Gigabytes of internet storage! I think that’s an excellent price for that much storage and functionality. What do you think? Leave a comment!

Now that I’ve rambled on about MobileMe, you’re probably going, “well, what else is new?” Two words, “App Store”. The App Store is going to be a centralized location for every app for the iPhone. I know Keaton was telling me the other day, that he was looking for an IRC client for his phone, but had a hard time. Not because it wasn’t out there, but because not everything is in a centralized location to find all of your apps. Not only that, but you’re able to download these apps on the go with the 3G iPhone, as well as the new software updated iPhone. WOW!

Now, for the actual time! The release time is going to be at 8 EST or 5am PST! So, make sure you’re awake by then and you get there before everyone else, because I’m sure their servers are going to get absolutely hammered.

All this plus more, coming July 11th, 2008! Are you getting a new iPhone, or just excited for the software update. What about MobileMe? Any comments, questions, concerns? Leave a comment!

The BEST Twitter Client, Ever!

6 07 2008

Have you ever wondered what other people think is the best Twitter client is? Well, let me tell you, if this isn’t the best one, it’s darned close.

My friend belthesar, showed me this awesome Twitter Application, called TweetDeck. It’s a cross-platform Adobe Air application, that allows you to see all of your tweets, all of your DM’s, and all of your @ replies.

This is a great application, besides one draw-back I’ve seen. It almost takes up your whole desktop. Now, I know many of you say, “well, what does it matter? It’s the functionality that matters, not the interface” This may only be me, but I prefer to have a Twitter application, that can sit right on my desktop, that allows you to just glance over, and see/write tweets. Like I said, this isn’t a huge deal, but it may be looked upon to be improved.

There are also 4 buttons located at the top of the window, “tweet”, “group”, “search”, and “replies. One I’d really like to point out, is the search feature. This is extremely useful, for finding people’s tweets that my have been buried very deep.

I also happen to like the “timeframe” slider. You can set your timeframe from 1 to 168 hours. This will allow you to see tweets that are older, or only concentrate on the newer ones. This in my opinion is a great feature.

One of the many features I also like, is the ability to use TweetDeck when you are offline, or if Twitter is down, which has been happening quite frequently. You simply select a simple button at startup, and TweetDeck will send the Tweets once your service is restored

All this and more in TweetDeck! So, go check it out for yourself!

All in all, TweetDeck is amazing! Check it out here!

Thanks for reading, and leave a comment!
